La Suiza – Pejibaye (18km) 13.4 miles 1800 feet elevation gain Camino section 7 and part of 8
Today was another beautiful sunny day, with clouds developing mid-afternoon. We continued walking through sugar cane fields and small villages on our way to Pejibaye a larger town that was first established as a railway town for the Costa Rican railroad.

Allan in front of the house we visited in the morning. One side yard was full of orchids, the other held a museum of sorts and was filled with typewriters, cameras, and other odds and ends.
Today was hot walking, especially when we were on asphalt. We started the day wiviting a tico who has create a large orchid garden and also has a collection of odd old electronics. Our guide tells us he met them and the man is proud of his garden and collection and wanted to share them with others.
We then started walking and cut through a path down a hill. There were tall trees off in the distance where we saw a small flock of toucans fly off. As we got closer to the trees we saw a few more toucans and an aracari (a medium size toucan)
the rest of the day was a mix of rural and sugarcane. We ended the day by doing a part of section 8 to shorten the day tomorrow and ended up eating lunch late at our stopping point a camp ground next to a river.
The campground had cold showers. The toilet we sharded among 7 in our group had a broken flapper valve so we had to manually close it to allow the toilet to fill and flush. Over the course of the night the toilet’s condition deteriorated such that the floor in that room was very wet floor in the morning.
